Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The School of Data Science and Analytics offers a wide range of educational courses and programs focused on applied statistics, analytics, and data science including general education courses, an undergraduate minor, an undergraduate major, a master's degree, and a PhD in Data Science and Analytics. Faculty in the School currently conduct collaborative, interdisciplinary research in biostatistics, process improvement, survey methodology, sports analytics, psychometrics, education, and various areas of applied data science. Industry, government, and organizations partner with us to find solutions to their data-centric problems through the Center for Data Science and Analytics (CDSA) and the Human Studies Lab, two of the most successful and dynamic research units at the university. There are opportunities to support the School services and programs through CDSA.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for multiple full-time, tenure track faculty positions as Associate Professor of Data Science and Analytics in the School of Data Science and Analytics with a preferred start date of January 2025. These are nine-month contracted positions. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Instruct a range of graduate and undergraduate courses in data science, analytics, and/or applied statistics, demonstrating a commitment to improve teaching through scholarly approaches and leading curricular development in these areas.
  • Research: Engage in active scholarship activities consistent with an R2 institution, including but not limited to leading and maintaining a defined research program, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and seeking and securing external grant funding.
  • Service: Mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students as well as junior faculty in research. Provide service to the School, College, and University appropriate for the position.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Data Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline, is required.
  • Proficient in at least one analytical programming language (e.g., R, Python, SAS).
  • A proven record in research, teaching, student supervision and funding.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in statistics, analytics, data science, machine learning, AI, or closely related field. Candidates able to teach machine learning and AI are especially desired.
  • Evidence of working and teaching in an interdisciplinary, collaborative setting using various computational platforms, including cloud platforms, (such as consulting center rotation, collaboration in an applied setting, industry experience, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ethical and responsible data science and computing principles and practices.
