Job Summary

This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible primarily for overseeing the daily operation of the facility, coordinating group visits and special events, managing department budgets and assisting with all aspects of the Center's public interface. Position demonstrates daily a commitment to excellence in science education and public outreach, and a desire to work with CSU students, school systems (K-12), community partners, and the general public.

Position works extensively with all of the public outreach efforts of CSU's Coca-Cola Space Science Center, which requires various night and weekend commitments. Position provides leadership with or contributes to staff supervision, event planning & fundraising, strengthening our profile in the museum industry, developing community and corporate partnerships, and media relations.

Responsibilities

Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Supervise/coordinate all elements of the Center to ensure that they operate in sync for group visits and that all activities are staffed with qualified personnel. Oversee all school groups visiting the Coca-Cola Space Science Center (K-12 and beyond). Coordinate the schedule of weekly activities with Visitor Services. Ensure a high-quality visitor experience for all guests with Visitor Services and Education teams (25%).; Hire, supervise and manage staff and student assistants to accomplish the effective flow of daily operations. This includes interfacing with CSU's Office of Human Resources. This also includes resolving staffing issues, coordinating days off for part-time and full-time staff, and weekly workload management and scheduling. If staffing or personnel issues arise, resolve them in consultation with the Executive Director. This may mean changing the schedules of groups and/or responsibilities of staff members. Coordinate internal communications to facilitate optimal staff engagement (30%).; Review and strategize on all budgetary aspects of CCSSC operations, including door admission and gift shop revenue, contracts, private donations and other revenue or income sources, as well as expenses for all CCSSC accounts. Provide guidance to Executive Director on budgetary matters (10%).; Work in conjunction with University Advancement and the Executive Director to create partnerships in support of fundraising activities for the Center. Manage stewardship activities and relationships with stakeholders in conjunction with University Advancement (10%).; Represent Columbus State University and the Coca-Cola Space Science Center with external partners such as governmental agencies, Chambers of Commerce, the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau, and various local and national organizations (10%).; Coordinate all Center advertising and marketing activities, in conjunction with CSU Strategic Communication + Marketing. These activities include coordinating media relations, marketing materials, social media platforms and the CCSSC website. Defining and planning the marketing strategy for the Center across these various platforms (5%).; Oversee the scheduling and management of all private, community and university functions at the Center (5%).; Manage special improvement projects of the Center in coordination with the Executive Director (5%).

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications include: The minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business, education, communications or another field related to the operation.; Must demonstrate a sufficient history of increasing responsibility and work experience to allow for successful oversight of daily operations of the facility, including experience with staff supervision, finance, event planning, museum affiliation, developing community & corporate partnerships, and media relations.

Proposed Salary

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $66,468 - $73,277 and includes full benefits.
