Job Summary:

The University of Colorado's Asthma Research and Education (UCARE) Team is led by Dr. Fernando Holguin and Dr. Sunita Sharma. Both are faculty at the University of Colorado and see patients in the Severe Asthma Program at the Center for Lungs & Breathing. They both oversee a large cadre of clinical and translational research projects investigating asthma severity, the impact of air pollution on asthma severity, and response to asthma treatment. The UCARE team brings over 50 years of combined clinical and research experience to the program. Our research team is dedicated to helping identify new therapeutic strategies to improve the lives of those who have asthma

The UCARE team is seeking applications for a Research Services Clinical Sciences Program Manager. This full-time position will be responsible for the operational management and the oversight of the UCARE program within the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine. This position will work directly with faculty and will have high-level administrative duties, as well as provide supervision of research staff. This includes grant and project management, compliance, and accounting while providing support to research investigators in obtaining and maintaining grant funding. This individual will act as a resource for Investigators and will be expected to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other Administrators in the grant/contract process including development, submission, receipt, and reporting. Must have excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre- and post-award grants management.
  • Participate in tactical and strategic program/project development and planning.
  • Participate in program/project budget development processes, including grant writing and submission processes, and regularly reviews to ensure alignment.
  • Coordinate and supervise the clinical research team.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule and as needed for in-person meetings; onsite location is at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado and schedule will be coordinated with supervisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Four (4) years clinical research or related experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or health related field.
  • Five (5) years of clinical research or related experience.
  • Three (3) years of grants management experience.
  • Prior experience providing program and/or project management duties in a clinical research setting.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g., EMR or EHR and data management systems).
  • Working knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and the clinical development process.
  • Prior experience with pre- and post-award management.
  • Prior experience with University systems (e.g., InfoEd, CU Portal).
  • Prior experience managing a team.
  • Prior experience working in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong project management skills and experience within a complex and diverse environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Demonstration of strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Knowledge of basic project management tools and techniques.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $67,403 - $85,736.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
