Position No. 00053176. The SMU Department of Statistics and Data Science invites applications for a faculty lecturer position to begin in Fall 2025.
The Department of Statistics & Data Science is the academic home for research and teaching in statistics and data science at SMU. It has 13 permanent faculty members, of whom 5 are on the Professional & Teaching track. The department fosters a collegial environment that is supportive of professional growth and collaboration among faculty members of all tracks and levels.
The department offers a PhD in Statistical Science, a PhD in Biostatistics (in collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center), a PhD in Data Science, an in-person MS in Data Science and Applied Statistics, an online MS in Data Science, a BS in Statistics, and a BS in Data Science. Qualifications:
We seek professionals who have experience teaching statistics and data science at the college level, the willingness to develop a broad repertoire of undergraduate courses, and a commitment to inclusive teaching. The selected candidate will teach in our statistics and data science programs, coordinate instructional activities in data science, mentor students at all levels, and engage in department service.
An MS, MA, or PhD is required at the time of appointment.
