Job Summary:

The goal of the studies is to better understand mechanisms associated with heart failure in children and adults. The candidate will work with other PRAs, physicians, and PhD scientists to accomplish their goals. The candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience in mitochondrial functional studies utilizing human hearts.

This position requires some weekend and/or after-hours work. If experiments happen outside work hours, comp time is provided.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing the biochemical and pharmacologic characteristics of these explanted human or animal hearts utilizing biochemical and molecular measurements.
  • Mitochondrial function experiments from explanted human hearts.
  • This position also requires animal (rodent) work, including surgeries and molecular analysis.
  • The candidate will be expected to diagnose, and problem solve as it relates to the research project and muscle bath equipment, and collaboration with other PRAs, Sr. PRAs, and post docs in the lab.
  • Other laboratory experiments, such as cell culture and molecular biology experiments.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Co.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $45,000 - $57,240.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
